Cataract Surgery

Rotary Bangalore Midtown has been actively supporting community eye health through a dedicated cataract surgery initiative aimed at restoring sight and improving the quality of life for underprivileged individuals. In partnership with Shraddha Eye Care Trust Hospital, the club sponsors cataract surgeries for economically challenged patients who are unable to afford treatment on their own.

The initiative began with the sponsorship of a limited number of surgeries each month, focusing on individuals at risk of preventable blindness. Over time, as the need grew and the impact became increasingly evident, Rotary Bangalore Midtown expanded its support, enabling a greater number of patients to receive timely surgical intervention.

Today, the project facilitates eight cataract surgeries every month, helping nearly 100 individuals each year regain their vision, independence, and ability to participate fully in daily life. All procedures are performed by experienced ophthalmologists, ensuring high-quality care, proper follow-up, and long-term benefits for the patients.

Cataract remains one of the leading causes of preventable blindness in India, and this project directly addresses that gap by offering free, life-changing treatment. Through this impactful initiative, Rotary Bangalore Midtown continues to illuminate lives and bring hope to those living in darkness, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable healthcare and community service.
